The 9600 Wilshire project is designed through the lens of sustainability. The goal of achieving carbon neutrality will be achieved through the State of California 2030 – 2035 Carbon Neutrality Mandates. In addition, the project aims for a LEED Gold standard.
Some of the tools and strategies to achieve these goals include:
- An all-electric HVAC System
- All-electric kitchens in residences
- Landscaped and planted roofs to reduce the urban heat island effect, improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Enhanced ventilation exceeding code by 30%
- Use of Mass Timber in the construction of the buildings, a sustainable, renewable material that inherently contributes to energy savings
