Traffic calming and management around the site are critical to the project’s success and the neighborhood’s safety. The project is designed to control car and commercial traffic entering and exiting the properties to keep them out of the neighborhood to the south.
- New paving with textured cobblestones will slow cars coming off Wilshire Boulevard, reinforcing that these are residential streets and not a short-cut to Olympic Boulevard
- The primary car and truck access to the sites will continue to be Wilshire Boulevard. All parking for the project will be below grade, including the necessary parking for staff that will serve the various buildings
- All cars and trucks will be directed to the new Via, a designed access for vehicles and pedestrians behind the buildings and into an underground parking garage
- The residents of the new apartments will use Peck Drive to access private driveways to take them down to their underground garages
- The service and loading for the historic structures will be from the new Via and the residential service and loading will be from the south alleyways
- The service and loading for the new Saks and the new office on Camden Drive will be as they currently are, off Peck Drive
